Off-Floor Rules

 

 

The Valley Thunder Lacrosse annual Apple Cup is the largest club/ house box lacrosse tournament in Atlantic Canada, played out of the Kings Mutual Century Centre in Berwick and the Credit Union Centre in Kingston. 2024 will be the 9th annual, and we invite teams to register, come and play, and - most importantly - have fun!

 

3 Game Minimum, Friday - Sunday.

6 teams per Division (U11, U13, U15) 3 Teams in U17. Round Robin, Crossover & 3rd v 3rd, plus finals.

 

 Apple Cup 2024 Rules - Updated 26 May

This is a club (Level B) tournament. Rosters must match League Rosters on RAMP. Rosters will be reviewed before the tournament, those affected by review may remove ineligible athletes and continue, or withdraw (with no refund). Opponent of the withdrawn team will record a win.

 
Review factors include:
  • Female athletes are eligible on co-ed teams, or as all-female teams, at all skill levels (club/ house, select or provincial). Female athletes and all-female teams will play in their age group. 
  • All other athletes will be checked against 2024 select, club Level A and provincial team (as of May 15).
  • Each team may ONLY dress three athletes per game (player or goalie) whose names appear on a select roster, Club Level A, provincial team draft (as of May 15) or ECJLL reserve list.  ***No ECJLL rostered athletes.
 
One hour per game is scheduled. That hour includes
  • 3 minute warm up,
  • 1 minute intermissions
  • All U11, U13, U15  games are 3x 15 min runtime.
  • U17 games are 3x 20 min runtime.

CLA rules regarding penalties.

Standings determined as follows:
  • most points (2 for win, 1 for tie, 0 loss)
  • most wins
  • fewest penalty minutes
  • quickest goal in first game of the tournament
  • coin flip
  • rules regarding standings prevent teams from running up the score. Goals for and against are not determining factors.
Play-off games
  • Add 5 minutes of overtime as needed (use the full 5 minutes)
  • Shoot out if still tied: 3 players selected, total goals.
  • If still tied, sudden death shoot out, 1 player at a time. All players must be used before players can re-attempt. If 1 team has fewer players, once that team exhausts all players and must re-use a player, the opposing team may also commence re-using their players, even if all their players have not yet competed.
