2024 Coach & Volunteer Information / Requirements

 

All coaches & volunteers must register on our site http://valleythunderlacrosse.rampregistrations.com/ as Coach/Staff Registration.  You are now able to upload your credentials directly to the site!

 

 

All coaches and facilitators participating in any LNS-sanctioned event must complete and provide the following information, every time, for every event.

 

Every Head Coach / Assistant Coach / Facilitator must hold:

This means anyone on the bench, including door people.


(over 18 years of age)

  • coach NCCP#
  • proof of Background check in previous 3 years
  • completed a Community Development Box lacrosse Certification course (classroom and on-floor)
  • completed SafeSport

(under 18 years of age)

  • coach NCCP#
    completed in a Community Development Box Lacrosse Certification Course (classroom and on-floor)
    completed SafeSport

 


Every Junior Coach (under age 16) must hold:

  • SafeSport

NOTE: *Junior coaches can only help at practice(s), not on the bench*

 


Every Team Manager must hold:

  • SafeSport
  • proof of Background check in previous 3 years

 


Every Trainer must hold:

  • SafeSport
  • proof of Background check in previous 3 years

* Trainer Certification:

15.2 Trainer Certification

(a) Trainers must have the appropriate certification. Appropriate certification is defined as one of the following:
(i)Any St. John Ambulance Emergency First Aid course of 8 hours (or more)
(ii)Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid & Basic Rescuer CPR course
(iii)Canadian Red Cross Sport First Aid course
(iv)Hockey Canada Safety Program (HCSP)
(A) An appropriate designation (examples: MD; RN; Physiotherapist, Police Officer;
(B) Firefighter, Chiropractor; Registered Massage Therapist).
(C) From the above, please be clear CPR (as a stand-alone certification) is NOT an equivalency.
(D) The LNSS recognizes only one trainer per team to address those specific activities (activities which would not include coaching athletes).

 

 

All coaches, volunteers and team staff must be qualified by 15 May 24 or request an exception from LNS through VTL.  No exceptions.

Step by Step Process:

Step 1 - Start the Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) and Criminal Record Check Process

Fill out this form and submit it to your nearest RCMP office.  Upload a scan of the returned form you your RAMP profile (Step 4)

Step 2 - Retreieve or Create an NCCP Number and Complete the SafeSport Training

  • If you have an NCCP number already (From Hockey, Baseball, etc) use that number.
  • If you have previously completed Respect in Sport, this step is not required
  • Add your NCCP# to your RAMP Profile & proof of SafeSport or Respect in Sport to your RAMP Profile (Step 4)

Step 3 - Register & Complete the Community Development Coach Course

Saturday, May 4, 

Greenwood  Community Centre, 110 Church St, Greenwood, NS B0P 1N0,

11am-3pm  Classroom, 3-5pm gym-$85

Step 4 - Register with Canada Lacrosse Association

  • Register using your NCCP number from Step 2

Last Step -  Register on RAMP as Team Staff

Upload your checks, proof of completion and NCCP numbers all on your RAMP profile.  There’s no need to email anyone!  Valley Thunder administrators will verify your qualifications after submitting them.
